Hi, I'm Julie (She/Her), a Registered Social Worker and Expressive Arts Therapist supporting children, youth, adults, couples, and families in Calgary and virtually across Alberta.
I believe therapy is a collaborative journey built on trust, connection, and curiosity. You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to offer a supportive space where we can explore your experiences, better understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools that support meaningful and lasting change.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). My work is also informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, and trauma-informed practice, with a focus on nervous system regulation through somatic and mindfulness-based approaches.
For clients who connect with creativity, or who find it difficult to express themselves through words alone, I also integrate Expressive Arts Therapy to support reflection, emotional processing, and healing in ways that feel authentic and meaningful.
With over 17 years of experience in Social Work, I have supported children, youth, adults, couples, and families through a wide range of challenges, including mental health and addiction, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship concerns, and personal growth. Having worked across community, healthcare, and counselling settings, I've come to appreciate that no two people experience life's challenges in the same way. This has shaped my commitment to creating a space where clients feel genuinely understood, supported, and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.
Whether you're navigating a difficult season, working through past experiences, strengthening relationships, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, my hope is that therapy feels like a place where you can slow down, feel supported, and move toward the life you want to create.
When I'm not supporting clients, I enjoy spending time outdoors—exploring the Rocky Mountains, visiting Calgary's dog parks, creating art, playing board games, listening to music, reading, and spending time with loved ones.
I value many of the same practices I encourage clients to explore: slowing down, staying connected to what matters, making space for creativity, and embracing opportunities for growth and reflection.
I look forward to meeting you, hearing your story, and supporting you toward greater understanding, connection, and well-being.
I am a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW) with active registrations in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) and the Social Workers Association of Alberta (SWAA).
